There are many types of sinks to choose from when purchasing new countertops, such as, rimmed, undermount, farm style, and vessel sinks. The rimmed sink has a top rim and it sets down into the countertop. The undermount sink goes just under the countertop instead of over it. Farm sinks set in the cabinet base specifically made to support the sink and the countertops hang over the sides and back of the sink. Vessel sinks sit completely up on top of the countertop and are popular in bathroom vanities.
